Music Therapy for Pre-Schoolers
Music therapy (MT) harnesses the energy of music for the benefit of each child. We'll sing together, play, share, clap, and stomp feet together. A family or support member is welcome to stay and participate with each toddler. Benefits include: social and listening skills; echolocation; following instructions; sharing, naming animals, colors, objects; counting; gross and fine-motor skills; impulse control; pre-literacy; movement; and fostering self-identity. Instructor is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and performing artist.
The class will not only benefit young children but also give their parents and caregivers tools to more effectively interact and cope, so they are invited to stay and participate themselves.
A typical group session lasts 30-40-minutes. Besides the topics detailed below, each session opens with a "Hello" song and ends with a "Goodbye" song. Additionally each session will address socialization, sharing, counting, pre-literacy skills, following instructions, impulse control and body movement. Throughout every minute of every session MT is using evidence-based, verifiably researched activities and interventions. MT has done a six-month practicum with 2 & 4 year-olds in an inclusive child development center.
