R • 8 hour drive with mudslide detours. Great hang with old friend and sound mixing buddy Todd Schtotty Brow.
F • Looking forward to recording with dear friend Ted Savarese this morning. Recording was quick, fun and great to see Ted! While there I found out about a concert the next evening to honor an amazing musician named Ralph Carney who was snatched from our lives way too soon! I played my first gig in SF with him... It was a blustery rainy night and I walked into some club on the non-crooked part of Lombard Street. A bassist invited me to sit in with a band and said the sax player was exceptional. I hopped on stage and asked Ralph if he had charts. "No man, I just make stuff up. Wanna make stuff up with me?" And we were off...!
Sa • Ralph Carney tribute at the Rite Spot. Saw many dear old friends, played killer music, made new friends... Videos and photos of Ralph. adorned the walls. Did solos on "Little Wing" and "Wichita Lineman" and joined the amped up band for the final number, "What the World Needs Now." Many of us shared stories with one another... Many felt that maybe now we could start processing Ralph's untimely death.
Su • Recorded with old friend Ferenc Dobronyi for a new album with his band Frankie and the Pool Boys. Thanks for the din din Karen!
M • Enjoyed many hours of quiet time in the meadows of Sebastopol at Jessica and Lars' geodesic dome home.

R • Led a jazz rehearsal with the David Parker sextet.
